Compatible Bluetooth Heart Rate Monitors
All major brands are compatible with OnBeat. They include Polar, Wahoo, Scosche and MyZone MZ-3.
Unfortunately the Apple Watch and FitBit are not currently compatible.
ANT+ is also compatible with OnBeat however you must purchase a WiFi bridge from us because the iPad and iPhone do not have ANT+ hardware built in. The cost for the WiFi bridge is $200 USD. The Wifi bridge is an antenna that receives up to 100 heart rate monitors signals and sends the data to the iPad or iPhone over Wifi.
This list contains all ANT+ heart rate monitors that are compatible with OnBeat.
Garmin does not send a Bluetooth signal and won't connect directly to the iPad/iPhone. The monitors only send an ANT+ signal, therefor require our ANT+ antenna. The cost for the device is $200 USD. Please submit a support request to order the antenna.
Understanding Bluetooth and ANT+
There are two types of heart rate monitors available in the market -- Bluetooth and ANT+ and each has it's pros and cons. Bluetooth is readily available on personal mobile devices, but can only be connected to one iPhone or iPad at a time. This means an athlete must disconnect their Bluetooth heart rate monitor from their personal phone before connecting it to OnBeat. ANT+ on the other hand can be connected to multiple iPads and iPhones at one time, but they extra hardware (WiFi Bridge) to connect to OnBeat.
Through our research we recommend the Wahoo TICKR and Scosche Rhythm because they provide the best of both worlds. They are compatible with Bluetooth and ANT+.
